In this issue of the newsletter you will find loads of new treats to tempt you. For the collectors out there, or maybe someone looking for a special bottle to impress their sweety, we have a very rare and outrageously decadent and delicious Petite Verdot from Vina von Siebenthal, and a trio of tasty top-end Italians. We have added a ton of new wines to the shelves in the last few weeks, as well as some outstanding Single Malts and craft beers. For the beer lover, we also have another of our popular Beer Seminars coming up (see left) exploring the extra richness and complexity bottle conditioning can bring to beer. Don’t miss it!

For the Collector

Vina von Siebenthal
Toknar Petit Verdot
2007
$89
Wine Advocate 94 pts
The 2007 Toknar is a cuvee of 100% Petit Verdot sourced from low yields and aged for 24 months in new French oak. Opaque purple/black in color, it offers up a sexy (bordering on kinky) perfume of wild berries, exotic spices, incense, and sandalwood. Dense, rich, and plush on the palate, this structured offering contains enough ripe tannin to evolve effortlessly for 5- years. This lengthy, powerful wine’s drinking window will extend from 2017 to 2027 if not longer.

Pio Cesare
Barolo Ornato
2009
$117
Wine Advocate 93+ points
The 2009 Barolo Ornato shows a “modern” approach with softer fruit layers and thicker, velvety texture. The fact that the fruit is sourced in the Serralunga d’Alba township (known for more opulent wines) underlines the wine’s open and overt personality
Wine Spectator 92 points
A touch of new oak adds spice and sweetness to the macerated cherry, menthol and tar notes. Firm and compact, showing a dense profile and a long finish of tar and savory. Best from 2015 through 2029.

Travaglini Gattinara
“Tre Vigne”
2006
$49.50
Wine Spectator 93 points
Refined, boasting sweet cherry, licorice, mushroom and leather aromas and flavors, this red is ready to enjoy. Both supple and chewy, offering fine balance and harmony, consistent with the structure of the vintage. Still has time to give. Drink now through 2020.

Masi Amarone Riserva 1.5ltr
2006
$190.00
Wine Spectator 93 points
An aromatic floral thread accents this finely meshed red, which layers light tannins and tangy acidity with flavors of black currant, juicy cherry, cocoa powder, chai tea, fig and smoke. A fine balance of both finesse and grip. Drink now through 2030. 100 cases imported.
