Farewell to One of the Very Best
We, like everyone else in the wine industry in Edmonton, were stunned to hear of the sudden passing of Spike Maynard of Harvest Vintage Imports last week. As well as being the importer of some of the best Aussie wines in the market, such as Mollydooker, D’Arenberg, and Small Gully, among other things, Spike was one of the most genuine, easygoing, and likeable people I have ever dealt with. Anyone who has been to one of our wine festivals will know that he was a fixture in the back corner downstairs, holding court with a big smile while dispensing samples of his wines, along with Rogue and Cooper beer and the occasional Arran Single Malt. It will be strange not having him back there and he will be sorely missed.
